On Porter Lake

Porter Lake is a lake in southern Washington County, Florida, about 20 to 23 miles south of Chipley. It lies within the Econfina Creek Water Management Area, which covers 41,363 acres in Washington and Bay counties along Econfina Creek. The management area includes xeric sandhill uplands with dozens of shallow, clear, sand-bottomed lakes. Rain that falls on these sandhills recharges the springs that feed the creek. The Northwest Florida Water Management District acquired the land for water resource protection, restoration and preservation. Gap Lake and Hammock Lake are nearby. More about Porter Lake.
