On George Creek

Whiskey George Creek, listed here as George Creek, is a dark, tannin-stained tidal stream in Franklin County, Florida, north of Eastpoint. It starts in the swamps of Tate's Hell State Forest and is one of the forest's longest streams, at nearly 22 miles, with a basin of 19,900 acres. The creek flows south and is joined by Juniper Creek, Doyle Creek and another small tributary. It empties into West Bayou of East Bay, which is the main nursery area for the Apalachicola Bay system. Roads and ditches built in the 1960s and 1970s changed how water drains into the creek. The Northwest Florida Water Management District carried out restoration projects in the basin in 1998 and 2009.
