On Palma Sola Bay

Palma Sola Bay is a small embayment in west Bradenton, Manatee County, Florida, that opens into Anna Maria Sound. It covers 3,236 acres and lies between the barrier island of Anna Maria and the city of Bradenton. The historic commercial fishing village of Cortez is to the southwest, and Manatee County's Robinson Preserve is to the north. The Manatee County Water Atlas places the bay in both the Sarasota Bay and Tampa Bay coastal watersheds. The Sarasota Bay Estuary Program monitors its seagrass and macroalgae and describes it as poorly flushed, a circulatory dead-end where water moves more slowly than anywhere in its area except Little Sarasota Bay.
