On Nassau River

The Nassau River is a tidal coastal river in northeast Florida. It runs through salt marsh along the Duval–Nassau county line, between Jacksonville and Fernandina Beach, and empties into Nassau Sound between Amelia Island State Park and Big Talbot Island State Park. Much of the river lies within the Nassau River-St. Johns River Marshes Aquatic Preserve. The preserve was designated on November 24, 1969, covers about 69,000 acres in Duval and Nassau counties, and is managed by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. It is a large salt-marsh estuary of tidal creeks, rivers and channels with a few small tree islands. More about Nassau River.
