On Moore Reservoir

Moore Reservoir is a reservoir on the Connecticut River along the New Hampshire–Vermont border. It lies in Littleton and Dalton, New Hampshire, and in Waterford and Concord, Vermont. Great River Hydro, the dam's owner, gives its size as 3,490 acres and 11 miles long at an elevation of 809 feet, with 40 feet of usable storage that is managed by season. Wikipedia, citing New Hampshire Fish and Game, gives 3,181 acres, an average depth of 60 feet and a maximum depth of 120 feet. The 178-foot Samuel C. Moore Dam holds back the water. The New England Power Company built it, and it was finished in 1956 and dedicated in 1957. The villages of Upper Waterford and Pattenville were torn down to make way for the reservoir. The state line now lies underwater, and much of the reservoir is Vermont water. The reservoir is the uppermost part of the Fifteen Mile Falls Hydroelectric Project (FERC No. P-2077).
