On Nashua River
The Nashua River is a 37.5-mile tributary of the Merrimack River that flows through Massachusetts and New Hampshire. It begins in Lancaster, Massachusetts, where the North Nashua and South Nashua rivers meet. From there it runs generally north-northeast past Groton and Pepperell, then through Hollis to Nashua, New Hampshire, where it joins the Merrimack. Most of its watershed lies in north-central Massachusetts, with a much smaller part in southern New Hampshire. In 2019, 27 miles of the river were designated a National Wild and Scenic River. The largely volunteer Nashua River Watershed Association, based in Groton, Massachusetts, monitors the river's condition. More about Nashua River.
