On Deer Point Lake

Deer Point Lake is a reservoir in Bay County, Florida. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) describes it as a 5,000-acre impoundment about 7 miles north of Panama City, off US 231 and SR 77 at Southport. It is fed by freshwater streams and supplies fresh water to Panama City and the surrounding area. Econfina Creek ends in the lake, and the reservoir empties directly into North Bay, an arm of St. Andrews Bay. Bay County Utilities operates the Deer Point Dam. The normal water elevation is 4.5 feet. Each winter the county lowers the reservoir by about 2 feet, working with the FWC. The drawdown exposes nuisance aquatic vegetation to cold and dry weather.
