On Blackwater Bay

Blackwater Bay is a shallow, brackish bay in Santa Rosa County, Florida. It is mainly fed by the Blackwater River and the Yellow River, covers about 9.7 square miles, and drains south into the larger East Bay. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission describes it as an arm of Pensacola Bay. The bay belongs to the Pensacola Bay estuarine system, which covers 144 square miles and ranks as the fourth-largest estuarine system in Florida. The Blackwater River runs 58 miles from southern Alabama to the bay, passing the city of Milton on the way. Yellow River Marsh Preserve State Park on Garcon Point lies between Escambia Bay and Blackwater Bay. More about Blackwater Bay.
