On Lamoille River

The Lamoille River is a river in northern Vermont that drains into Lake Champlain. It is about 85 miles long and has a drainage area of about 706 square miles. The Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation says the main stem runs more than 84 miles. It starts in Glover and ends at the outer Mallets Bay of Lake Champlain, passing through 34 towns in 5 counties. The river first flows southwest and then northwest from the divide of the Green Mountains, and Lamoille County is named after it. Its major tributaries are the Wild Branch, North Branch, Brewster River and Browns River. Arrowhead Mountain Lake is one of the larger lakes in its watershed. Green Mountain Power runs hydroelectric stations on the river, including Fairfax Falls and the Milton station. More about Lamoille River.
