On Mullet Key Bayou

Mullet Key Bayou is a shallow saltwater bay in Pinellas County, Florida. It lies inside Fort De Soto Park, a county park south-southwest of St. Petersburg at the mouth of Tampa Bay. The park is made up of five keys: Mullet Key, Bonne Fortune Key, Madelaine Key, St. Jean Key and St. Christopher Key. Bridges and causeways connect the keys, and a toll road, the Pinellas Bayway, has linked them to the mainland since 1962. The bayou lies west of the park campground, and the beaches of Mullet Key shelter it from the Gulf. Mullet Key is a barrier island with two arms that meet at a right angle. Water depth runs from about 1 foot to several feet depending on the tide, and the tidal range is from just under 1 foot to about 2.5 feet. A marked boating channel connects Tampa Bay to the Gulf of Mexico. More about Mullet Key Bayou.
