The South Branch Au Sable River is a tributary of the Au Sable River in Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula. It rises out of Lake St. Helen in Richfield Township, Roscommon County, flows northwest into Roscommon, then turns northeast to join the main Au Sable in South Branch Township, Crawford County. The Michigan DNR's Au Sable River Natural River Plan lists its length as 37 miles, and the plan designates about 34 miles, from M-76 to the confluence, as wild-scenic river under state law.
