On Turkey Creek

Turkey Creek is a 4.1-mile stream in Malabar and Palm Bay, Brevard County, Florida. It flows into the Indian River, and its mouth lies in the bay of Palm Bay near Palm Bay Pointe. Upstream, past the canoe landing at Turkey Creek Sanctuary, the natural creek ends at a dam. West of the dam it continues as the channelized Melbourne-Tillman Canal. The sanctuary is a 130-acre preserve on the creek that the City of Palm Bay manages. It is part of the Brevard County Environmentally Endangered Lands program, and the property was donated to the Florida Audubon Society and the city in 1978. Brevard County's Manatee Protection Plan names Turkey Creek as a significant freshwater source for manatees. More about Turkey Creek.
